Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Otolaryngologists are physicians trained in the medical and surgical management of diseases of the ear, nose, and throat (ENT), and related structures of the head and neck. Their skills include the diagnosis and management of diseases of the sinuses, larynx (voice box), oral cavity, and upper pharynx (mouth and throat), as well as structures in the neck and face. Otolaryngologists manage diseases in both adults and children.
