ASTHMA
What is asthma?
Asthma is inflammation of the bronchi, or breathing tubes, of the lungs.
Do Allergists take care of ASTHMA?
YES: Allergists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of asthma, a lung disease that is often associated with allergies. Diagnosing and treating nasal allergies can significantly help control asthma. Likewise sinusitis and uncontrolled nasal allergies can worsen asthma, making it harder to control.
What are asthma symptoms?
Although symptoms of shortness of breath and wheezing are commonly known symptoms of asthma, cough is also a prominent symptom and for some, the only symptom.
Is anyone too young or old to develop asthma?
NO. Asthma can begin at any age. However since infants and children under 5 can easily wheeze with viral infections, asthma is not officially diagnosed before age 5.
